Let’s hear from Karen’s heart about her new book.

I remember when I first began homeschooling. I was a scared mom diving into something that was so new to me. It had been a long summer of praying and seeking the Lord’s will in something that I had never thought I would do. I was facing opposition from my family and was just plain scared. Yet God has blessed us abundantly and far beyond what I ever imagined because of homeschooling. It was a process, but once I learned that I wasn’t actually in control of my homeschool, that He was the One who had called me here, and He would lead it { if I just let go}…that was the beginning of joy and freedom in homeschooling.

called to homeschool

Do you feel so overwhelmed at times in your homeschool? Do you feel like you are distracted by so many things that are screaming for your attention? Well, relax. Take a deep breath and remember why you are on this journey. God has called you here and He will supply for all of your needs.

So many people say to me that they could never homeschool. Well, neither can I. Not by my own strength, at least. Just like a missionary going out into the jungle, I don’t think they ever say, “Oh this is easy.” I don’t either. Yet, my kids are my mission field and He will provide for what I need on this journey.

I wrote this book to share my story, to encourage those that are on the journey, and mostly to give God the glory for all that He has done. When we learn to commit all we do to Him, and let Him lead, that is when we can truly be successful…successful in His eyes, and not necessarily the world’s.

So join me join the journey and discover the joy in letting God lead your homeschool and in being called home!

  5. I have hit so many roadblocks with beginning our homeschooling journey, so I think this book would be a wonderful way to get our family back on track for homeschooling.

  6. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to win this amazing book! I am having so many struggles with one of my children, who has been diagnosed with ADHD – it is taking up so much of my time and energy trying to customize her learning, that I feel my other child is not getting the attention that he deserves, so it is a constant struggle and battle in my mind, but I’m trying desperately to give it to the Lord, and to let Him guide me and lead me in the right direction… Thank you.

  7. We are just beginning our homeschool journey. This book looks helpful to keep us in the right direction.

  9. This would be so wonderful, thanks for this giveaway.

  10. Looks like a great book to help new homeschooling moms like me.

  11. God led us to a wonderful support group and a wonderful church.

  12. The Lord has lead our homeschooling by showing us the difference in our kids that have been at home and the ones that go to public school. We can definitely tell which children are really learning.

  13. Sounds like a great book!

  14. God has led us in so many ways with our homeschooling. From showing me things I didn’t know about my kids to how to rerach them best and what works and doesn’t.

  15. The firm conviction that stays solid even through the toughest day, week, month or even year is what calls me to homeschool. When God has called you to it, He’ll show you the way if you let Him. Thanks for this wonderful reminder. Sometimes it is easy to get lost in ourselves.

  16. The Lord has given me some valuable wisdom through other seasoned homeschool moms. Precious friends!

  17. I think I’m like Karen in that I never thought about homeschooling. Since I went to public school and didn’t think I turned out too bad, that’s what I assumed my kids would go. Now I’m homeschooling my preschooler and it’s amazing to actually see him learn. I know that’s God working in my life as a mom and as a teacher.

  18. We are also just beginning and could use any encouragment i can get! lol

  19. I would love to read this book! I think we all need to be reminded why we do this occasionally.

  20. It sounds like a great book! I can’t wait to read it!

  21. Tiffany Mocanu says:

I have felt the Lord challenging me to “teach” my children outside of the box. I know that homeschooling is for us but getting out of that tradition “school” mode and entering into schooling by the leading of the Holy Spirit has been a challenge for me.

  22. I finally listened to the Lord this year about which curriculum to purchase and it has been a big hit! Go figure right?

  23. This is our second year homeschooling. Our first year was trial and error. Every morning we pray for our day and let the Lord guide us. Its amazing to me what I think is important is not important to Him.

  24. ive been praying about homeschooling; my kids are 3 and 4. ive been kind of homeschooling my daughter (4) for preschool, but i am scared about homeschooling! ive been receiving a lot of encouragement from other homeschooling moms, for that i am grateful. i know this is something that is important to the Lord, so i cant give up when ive barely started yet!

  25. I love planning – but sometimes that doesn’t leave room for God’s leading. Would love to get a good perspective on how to do that!

  26. This book sounds amazing! I lead a group at my church for homeschool families and those considering homeschooling and I would love to have it in my library of resources for parents!

  27. Well, considering I’m feeling stressed and ready to quit this would be a great book to read right now. :)

    Amy

  28. We have gone through different seasons in all of our daughters (4) schooling, where, God has lead us to “bring um home” & out of private or public schools. We are in the mists of that season with our two youngest (2nd & 4th). Ths book looks like it would be a great resource.

  29. The Lord is leading me by giving me peace about out curric choices. I was so confused on what to use but am finding what works. Trying hard to “Let go and let God” lead.

  30. I have to say that I’ve been struggling with allowing the Spirit lead my homeschool this year. I’m trying to serve where God has called me AND hold the reins of my homeschooling at the same time, and I’m SO overwhelmed! I love Karen’s messages, and it sounds like I need to curl up and read this e-book!!!

  31. The Lord has blessed me so much by allowing my daughter to stay home with me. I watched her passion disappear the three years she was in public school now I get to see it coming alive again. It has been amazing.

  32. The Lord has a true conviction on my heart to homeschool because I can honestly say in my flesh I would have already given up by now and I am at the beginning. This book looks like just what I am needing right now!

  33. We have just started homeschooling and I could always use more encouragement. Thank you for the chance to win.

  34. I have been at it for 17 years…so there has been a lot of the Lord’s leading along the way. But right now, H’es leading my heart back into it. That sounds strange, but you can lose your heart and get burned out…and distracted….and battle-weary. All of those things happened to me and I am in process of finding the joy and excitement again! So- reading someone else’s account of joy in the journey would be great!

  35. God is really teaching me this year to slow down and enjoy my boys more!

  36. As time creeps closer and closer for my oldest to go to kindergarten the more and more God finds little a way to show me something new about homeschooling. The week I found this blog I was looking up Bible studies tips and pregnancy because I an fascinated with pregnancy on pinterst your pin for holly spirit Led homeschooling and then I found all these biblical books on homeschooling , And everyday I see something new and I know in my heart this is what god wants for our family!

  37. We are only 11 days into our homeschooling adventure, but I can say that God is the only reason we are even doing it!

  38. I was lead to your blog!!!

  39. Having 3 children within 25 months is a very challenging task, especially as I am beginning to homeschool them. I need all the encouragment and inspiration that I can get. Thank you for this giveaway!

  40. would love to win a copy of this book to read , we love homeschooling and we love to include God in all of our school work!

  41. I always wanted to homeschool my children. My husband thought homeschooled kids were weird, unsocialized, and just incapable of life if they weren’t able to make it through school. Years later when my young son with ADHD had struggled through yet another year of public school and was now in 5th grade….we had come to a crossroads and the Lord changed my husbands heart. This son has been home for 3 years now and is no longer mean, hateful, irritable, stressed, or feeling left behind. He is whole. He is new. Now with 5 home I am tired! But, I love it.

  42. This is our first year to homeschool. My son is in first grade and we are having a rough time so far. We could use all the prayers and help from God that we can get!

  43. I have been traveling this road of homeschooling for the past 25 years and have about 10 more to go! You think I should be a pro by now! NOT!!!! Thank the Lord, He always reigns me in when I get off on my little bunny trails, lovingly pointing me in the right direction for our family. Yes, I still need the gentle reminders and nudging back in the right direction! It is so much easier when we let Him direct us…..

  44. I have seen God beginning to show me how to delight in my children more as they are, and not just with the future in mind.

  45. The Lord is so faithful! He has enabled me to teach two children to read, despite MANY trials! NOW, I have to pull them away from the books! HA! HE is indeed my strength and my song!

  46. I have just started my first year homeschooling my 4 children and 4 weeks in everything seems to be going well although I could use all the advice I can get.

  47. Colleen Ladd says:

This book sounds like heaven’s answer to the homeschooler. I believe we all feel overwhelmed in our journey , I certainly do.

  48. Colleen Ladd says:

Wow, what a question. First and foremost, He led me to pull my boys out when they were about to enter 5th and (YIKES!) 9th grade. He has also led me to some of the most wonderful ladies in the homeschool community who I am blessed to have support me in times of need.

  49. Oh! What a timely book this is!

  50. This book looks good! Would love to win it!

  51. We’ve been homeschooling for about 10 years now, but the Lord is continually dealing with me to keep my focus on why we’ve been called to homeschool, which is to disciple our children in the ways of God, and not just follow trends or keep comparing our homeschool with others or even my “ideal” that I can never live up to.

  52. I don’t homeschool yet, but I used to make comments about how you couldn”t pay me enough to be with kids all day and that I went to work to get away from my son. Now I feel like homeschooling would be best for him.

  53. He led me into homeschooling after my daughter went through kindergarten and 1st in public school Her first grade teacher didn’t deal with her the right way and she was pretty unhappy kid. She’s back to her normal self after a full year and a little bit more of homeschooling. God is awesome!

  54. I homeschooled for one year in between postings overseas and loved the closeness with my kids, though I don’t think I did a good job teaching them. I plan to homeschool them next year b/c I don’t like what they have to deal with at school and the long hours away from home.

  55. God led me to homeschool and has convicted me that I should continue. I gather strength from Him to travel each day’s journey.

  56. Rachel Hiser says:

This looks like a great resource! God has been prompting me more and more to lean on Him & His wisdom for my kids. My son is a super active kinesthetic learner, so traditional “school” methods are frustrating & counterproductive with him. Because God has helped me learn to be more laid back in my approach w my son, he is doing great! Can’t wait to learn more though, bc I’m going to need a LOT more wisdom as my kiddos advance in their schooling (DD is 2, DS is 5).

  57. I would love to win this book! One of the most special ways our family has been blessed with our home school decision happened five years ago. My dd had just completed 1st grade at the B&M and we felt strongly that God was leading us to home school. The next school year proved to be truly amazing and rewarding. For one, my dd got her song back: she began singing again. During her 2 years at the B&M we gradually saw her retreat into herself; she became very quiet and reserved. That all changed once she was home schooled! What a transformation, in a positive way this time, we have seen and continue to see. We have our girl back, singing and all! What a blessing!

  58. love you and love your blogs!

    thanks for all you do!

  59. Whenever I am unsure about anything, the Lord provides direction either thru a thought that comes to my mind or even a posting from someone else.

  60. I would love to win this book!! I continue to fall into the trap of thinking that I don’t know if I’m cut out for this and can possibly hs my children adequately….I am always reminded that it truly isn’t up to me. God led us to this path that we never expected and only by leaning on Him can I do the task He’s given. I think this book is a great idea for keeping a hs mom on track with the call to homeschooll.

  61. christina L says:

    This book sounds great!

  62. Looks like a GREAT book! I would love something like this as I’m just getting back into homeschooling this year with 2 of my kids and need a bit of encouragement.

  63. I would love to read this book! We’re feeling so isolated as homeschoolers and even though we know this is God’s plan for us, sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged.

  64. I would love to win a copy of this book!!! I am just beginning my homeschooling journey with my daughter and can use all the help I can get! ;) I continue to look to God as I feel He has called me to do this and will equip me and I so appreciate other people’s advice and suggestions!! Thank you so much for this opportunity!!! :)

  65. Cheryl Baranski says:

I want my children to learn about God along with their everyday education.
I don’t want them taught that same sex marriage is ok,
like they teach in the public school system where we live.
My kids will know and do the pledge of alligance.

  66. I would so love to win this book! Thank you so much for doing a giveaway.

  67. I would love to win!

  68. Michelle Perdue says:

This year is my first year homeschooling. Some days it goes great some days I find myself wondering if I made the right decision. I have a special needs 7 yr old son and a gifted 12 year old son. They both present with their own challenges and some days I feel lost.

  69. Can’t wait to read this book!

  70. Rebecca Chirozzi says:

This is our first full year of homeschooling my 4 year old and 15 year old. This would be a great start for me. Thank you for the opportunity!

  71. We are a military family and homeschooling has always been in the back of our minds. But after moving 3 times in 3 years and praying about it everyday FINALLY this is our first year and I love it. And I can tell my Daughter loves it too.

  72. We are in our 11th year of homeschooling and the Lord has lead us every step of the way. One of the main things He has shown us is that we need to organized, but not so overly structured that we overwhelm ourselves. AND, He never stops teaching us. by the time we are finished homeschooling our now 2 year old, we will have homeschooled for 28 years, and there is not a doubt in my mind that He’ll still be teaching us new things in year 28! :-)

  73. I want this book! :) :) :)

    • The Lord has led us to homeschool this year for the first time. My kids were in public school before this. Can’t wait to see what He does with us!

  74. I keep trying to design our homeschool experience after the public school model even though I know it isn’t what we want for our kids. I guess it’s just a fallback for me when I get nervous about swimming against the current. The Lord has guided us by ensuring those plans always fell flat in a big way and left us needing to change everything around. Maybe I’ll start listening and do it the way He is leading me to do it. I’m so stubborn!

  75. I would love a copy of this book! We’re just starting out (very slowy) and I am feeling so overwhelmed!

  76. This is our 3rd year of homeschooling and the most challenging so far. It’s the first year I’m schooling multiple ages (7, 3, 2). I have really been working on letting go and letting God. For a Type A personality like myself, it is much easier said than done. Thank you for the opportunity to win this book and be blessed!

  77. I would love to win a copy of this book!!

  78. Krissy Stewart says:

Sounds like an amazing book to win. Thanks for the opportunity to win it!!!!

  79. I would love to win this book so very much! This is my first year homeschooling and I keep hitting bumps. The Lord has blessed me with, and lead me to, some amazing homeschooling sisters. They encourage, support and love. Although, I am feeling stressed and worry so much that I am not doing it “right”. I worry that I am not traveling this road they way the Lord desires of me and would love some extra encouragement for my soul. This momma needs it! Thank you so much for doing a giveaway!

  80. Sounds like a great book!

  81. I was one of those that thought I would never homeschool and I spent plenty of time making sure everyone knew that. Gently the Lord guided me to homeschool our deaf daughter. 9 years later and I don’t regret it at all. What we thought was good for our special needs daughter turned out to be good for our whole family, one piece at a time.

  82. I ave already seen God at work with our year. The last 3 years have been ups and downs with a lot of changes and I honestly did not put God in the center of it all. During the summer, I realized my mistake and thanked God for another opportunity to try again. It’s only been 2 weeks, but I can see the difference. But sometimes the fears and doubts start to creep up and that’s why I think it’s important to stay guarded. I think this book sounds like another great tool for that. Thanks for the giveaway and may the Lord bless everyone’s year.

  83. Coral Lehman says:

Thank you! This is a process that God is taking me through now.

  84. Sounds like a great book!

  85. May God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand.

  86. This sounds like just the book for me! Just started homeschooling this year my second grader & already seeing God’s leading me in a different direction than I had thought I’d be going! Trying to trust Him and let Him lead us, but it is hard, oh, so hard!! Thanks for this giveaway!

  87. April Dangerfield says:

This sounds like a book I really need to read right now…I seem to be overwhelmed all over this year, and I could definitely use the encouragement…

  88. Love to hear others share their story of homeschooling and how they know they must rely on God to get us through.

  89. Was so relieved to read her words “not by my own strength”. I am homeschooling by grandson who has lived with me almost 5 yrs and I adopted him last December. I feel called to homeschool but on some days feel so inept and overwhelmed as I also juggle work, and a home business(because I am single). Everyday I ask for God’s Grace and Mercy. Would LOVE a copy of this book!!!

  90. Looks like an encouraging book for any homeschooling parent. So far this has been our best homeschooling year yet.

  91. God has led our homeschool this year by guiding us to the co-op we are participating in. I feel so blessed to have a vision for our homeschool and an outlet for accomplishing it!

  92. My son asked to be homeschooled and the year before that I had wanted to Homeschool him.

  93. This book sounds exactly what I need right now.

  94. I would love to win this! This is our 3rd year homeschooling & I still question every day, every decision. I just can’t let go of all the other stuff.

  95. Shelley Quiroz says:

I would love to win this book. God blesses our homeschool with free books, school supplies and an abundance of educational resources this summer. It is our first year homeschooling and we were building from scratch with limited resources. Thank goodness His resources are not limited!

  96. This is my 12th year of homeschooling. It’s had it ups and downs. I would love a free book to receive more encouragement. The last few years have been difficult, not because of school, but because of other issues in life crowding into the school arena.

  97. I think I need to read this book!!

  98. Once upon a time, I thought homeschoolers were weird. I was never going to homeschool my children.
Then God called us to do it. That was some serious irony. Now, 6+ years into it- I can’t imagine living life any differently. I love our homeschooling life!

  99. God has already provided a wonderful support system and great resources for when we begin. (oldest is only 3).

  100. Wow sounds like something that I need to read.

  101. With only two weeks of homeschooling under my belt, I feel that the Lord has blessed my son and I with some depth to our relationship. I’ve got lots to learn, and it’s a wonderful blessing that my 4-year-old made me realize this. He teaches me, as much as I teach him.
